Loy Krathong Festival – Thai Food Fair ‘09
October 17, 2009On the 25th October 2009 there will be a Loy Krathong Festival organised by the Thai-Australian Association of WA.
Loy Krathong is a yearly celebration and normally is held in December during the full moon in the Thai lunar calendar. On the night of the full moon little rafts made out of banana tree trunk dressed with candles, incense, and flowers are set down a river. The celebration is usually carried out with fireworks, eating, beauty contests, etc. The Perth festival might not be as large in scope as in Thailand, but I know I’ll be there – I was unfortunate to miss out on the Thai Food Festival in September earlier this year due to work (damn).
Highlights will include:
- Food fair
- Miss Noppamaht Beauty Contest
- Door prizes
- Spot prizes
- Best dress prizes
- Music and DJ all day
